About Grassroots Writers
Grassroots : ordinary people forming at the most basic level of an activity or organisation.
Conceived by Iris Curteis and others from Dorrigo Writers Group back in 2014 as an opportunity for writers groups from the Mid North Coast to come together in friendship and fellowship. The idea was to form a community where we could help each other, teach each other and gain benefit from being part of a larger writing network.
Since that brilliant initiative, the annual event has been held in community halls. schools, caravan park spaces and community clubrooms.
Normally occurring around March to May (dates decided by the host group), the annual event brings writers from all walks of life, all ages and stages of writing together in a value-packed, low-cost, grassroots space.

The Grassroots Writers Weekend offers hands-on, practical, inspiring writing workshops for writers across all skill levels – from never having put ‘pen to paper’ to experienced writers. Take the opportunity to discover, develop and hone your writing skills, to experience and share with others the thrills (and torments) of writing, to encourage collaboration and build networks between writers and writers groups across the region.
Alternatively, join one of our Mid North Coast writing groups to develop your craft and minimise the isolation of being a writer.
